Color Coding: Adaptation for Comprehension

    A few of my students can read, but get very frustrated when asked to answer comprehension questions based on what has been read. How can I reduce frustration and increase comprehension?

  • Summary

    Before giving an assignment that requires reading comprehension, make adaptations to the paper by highlighting the number of the question and the corresponding sentence or paragraph where the answer can be found. Use a different color of highlighter or marker for each question. You can also use colored Post It tags to tag pages where the answer can be found.
