Special Education School

At Watson Institute Harry S. Tack Education Center Sewickley, we offer an approved private special education school program that is licensed to serve children ages 3 to 21 with special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder, cerebral palsy, neurological impairments, and other developmental disabilities. At the Education Center Sewickley, classrooms are staffed by a special education teacher and two instructional aides. Students with special needs also receive supports from physical, occupational, and speech therapists, social workers, behavior specialists, on-staff nurses, and teachers for the visually impaired. Students at our special education school also receive special classes such as art, music, and adapted physical education from certified teaching staff.

Community Based Instruction

Students at the Watson Institute’s special education school are provided with supports to help them prepare for their transition to adulthood after graduating from our program. Students may receive community based instruction, social skills and pre-vocational skills development support to ensure they are better prepared for the transition out of the special education school setting. Special education transition services help our students to develop the necessary skills and confidence to navigate in the community.
