Core Vocabulary Lesson: Likes

Jack and John

Core vocabulary consists of the words used most frequently and in the majority of communications. Using core vocabulary lessons and activities can be a fun way to advance your student’s communication skills and express meaning.

In this core vocabulary lesson, teach your students how to express things that they “like”. This set of core vocabulary words can help students communicate their preferences about foods, games, and clothing, and even help when making friends!

Included in the lesson are:

  • activity ideas to reinforce the meaning behind “like” and how to use it to communicate preferences
  • an activity book with a story illustrating appropriate uses of “I Like” in a sentence
  • a list of related core vocabulary words that can be used in conjunction with “like”
