What are Question Cards?
A set of Question Cards is a visual tool to indicate to a student how many turns or times they are able to ask questions during a given period of time.
Example:
What do you do with a student who continually asks questions unrelated to the topic being discussed in class? When they are not allowed to ask off-topic questions, they become upset or angry.
Why Use Question Cards for a Student?
Educators can use question cards to indicate the number of times the student can ask a question to limit interruptions during class discussions.

How to Create and Use Question Cards
- Cut several 3×5 index cards in half.
- Put a question mark on each card.
- Decide how many question cards the student can have during an activity.
- Velcro the cards to the student’s desk.
- Teach the student how to use the cards.
- Explain that if they have a comment or question unrelated to the activity or discussion, a question card can be used. Unrelated comments or questions can be asked as long as the student still has question cards.
- Over time, the number of cards given during a designated period of time can be decreased.
