In-Home Instructor Job – Training & Consultation
The Watson Institute is hiring a full-time In-Home Instructor in its special education Training and Consultation program to provide specialized instruction to students in their home setting. This full-time position will work Monday through Friday.

In-Home Instructor Job Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction to students who are Homebound or receiving Instruction In the Home guided by a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Plan, implement and/or adapt instructional activities
- Work independently in family/guardian homes
- Plan and conduct assessments
- Record and interpret assessment data
- Develop, maintain, and monitor present education levels, goals, objectives, success criteria, and specially designed instructions for IEPs
- Communicate regularly with family, district, and related services personnel
- Availble to teach or assist in Education Center classrooms when not scheduled for in-home instruction
- Other duties as assigned
Skills Required:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize and present written and verbal information about students
- Ability to organize the learning environment of students
- Ability to work as a transdisciplinary team member
- Ability to support student behavior
- Ability to plan and implement student instruction
Job Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Special Education required
- PA Special Education Teaching Certification in Mentally and Physically Handicapped or specific exceptionality/area
- 4-6 years of teaching experience in Special Education preferred
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of recommended practice and regulations in special education, IDEA, Homebound and Instruction In the Home, and positive behavior supports
- Most tasks require oral communication, visual, and hearing perception
- Reliable transportation to private residences in the Greater Western Pennslyvania area is required
- The ability to keep up with active children and to lift, position, or assist with lifting students is essential to perform this task
- The essential functions of the job described require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and brisk walking, and which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and material of moderate weight (40 pounds)
- Current Acts 34, 114, and 151 clearances required
- Pre-employment medical examinations, including tuberculosis test required
