Transition Coordinator Job – WISCA

The Watson Institute is hiring a full-time Transition Coordinator in our Watson Institute Social Center for Academic Achievement (WISCA) special education school program. This position will work Monday through Friday, following the school calendar and at all WISCA locations.

This position is for the 2023-2024 School Year but interviews and hiring are underway now!

Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain necessary training including Job Coaching Certification and Transition Planning
  • Conduct weekly meetings for the transition team to include updates on IEPs/RRs, upcoming events and classrooms
  • Coordinate CBVE experiences, make business connections, assist in overseeing and transporting of students and follow up on weekly assessments completed by transition staff
  • Regular contact with OVR to discuss student work placements, Early Reach, and different opportunities
  • Maintain caseload between all WISCA locations; review new student documents, IEPs, RR, updated plans as needed, create pathways for students
  • Utilize Alma and all WISCA platforms
  • Assist students with all applications as needed including resumes and jobs
  • Complete assessments utilizing WISCA platforms
  • Plan tours including Community Colleges, Vo-Techs, and Community Tours related to transition
  • Attend and engage in all meetings for transition students
  • Supervise in-house tasks that are assigned to staff and students
  • Organize current portfolios and student-specific projects, as well as maintain all records for the transition caseload
  • Complete designated sections on IEPs and RRs; provide pre-planning and coordinating to ensure accurate documentation
  • Assist with creating and managing schedules for in-house tasks
  • Supervise other transition staff members as part of the team
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field required
  • Experience transitioning Special Education students to post-school outcomes preferred and knowledge of adult programming and services preferred
  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to exert moderate physical effort, including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, brisk walking, and the ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Valid PA Driver’s License and ability to drive students in a van
  • Current PA Acts 34, 114 and 151 clearances required
