Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS)

Casual positions throughout Allegheny County working flexible hours directly with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders implementing treatment plan objectives.  Daytime, evening and weekend work hours are available.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment plan objectives by working directly with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders
  • Provide direct one-on-one therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a licensed Behavior Specialist Consultant
  • Work with families to assist them in acquiring skills and enabling them to maximize their child’s progress and independence
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding their child’s progress and issues
  • Provide services in the child’s home and/or community-based settings
  • Supervise the child and maintain safety of the child while working in community-based settings
  • Assist children in developing social skills and facilitate development of peer interactions
  • Attend regular required supervision meetings, individual supervisory sessions, and required trainings
  • Assist in implementing behavior management plans to enable the child’s participation in community-based settings
  • Implement ABA intervention techniques
  • Maintain therapeutic records and data necessary to monitor progress
  • Complete daily progress notes
  • Turn in progress notes and paperwork into the office on time per department policy
  • Other duties as requested

Requirements:

  • One of the following educational/experience qualification is required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with no experience OR
    • Associate’s Degree in a relevant field with three years of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents OR
    • Sixty credits towards a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with three years of full-time paid work experience in a job that involved direct contact with children or adolescents
  • Ability to complete necessary training successfully
  • Ability to participate in physically demanding activities with the child throughout the course of the intervention
  • Current Acts 34, 114 and 151 clearances required
  • Availability to work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening and weekend hours
