Special Education School Partners with Hundred Acres Manor

Today is the opening day at Hundred Acres Manor, a local haunted attraction in South Park. This haunting season, the Watson Institute will be partnering with Hundred Acres Manor in multiple ways to be a beneficiary of funding to support our special education schools and programs.

The Watson Institute’s special education schools serve students with special needs ages 3 to 21 in communities across Western Pennsylvania. Proceeds from Hundred Acres Manor’s 2017 season will help to support our schools as well as special education programs such as our day respite program, in-school training and consultation services, community based instruction and vocational experience programs, as well as our outpatient behavioral health services.

You may be asking yourself, how can I help? There are two ways you can make a difference and help Watson as we partner with Hundred Acres Manor this year.

Volunteer at Hundred Acres Manor

Have you ever gone to a haunted house and thought, “I’d like to give this scaring business a try”? Well now it’s your chance! Hundred Acres Manor is opening its doors to new volunteers this 2017 season. Volunteers, ages 16 and older, are needed especially on Friday and Saturday evenings in October.

All of the requirements and guidelines for volunteering are outlined on Hundred Acres Manor’s website along with┬áthe information for how to sign up to become a volunteer. Be sure to tell Mandy Tomczak, the volunteer coordinator for the haunted house, that you heard about volunteering from the Watson Institute – this helps us in our efforts to partner with Hundred Acres Manor!
