A letter from Barry W. Bohn, President & CEO of the Watson Institute

In recent weeks, our country has been torn by the events related to the death of George Floyd and similar incidents of racial inequities. The Watson Institute stands in solidarity with our students, families, and staff members of color. We are committed to diversity, anti-racism, and positive support for our school community.

While our organization has conducted some education for students and staff members on racial differences, ways to combat hatred, and how to build an inclusive community, it is not enough. We are committed to working together with our students, staff, and families to continue to build a more inclusive and accepting environment.

Since our founding in 1917, our work has been to help children of all abilities achieve their fullest potential. Our programs lift our students out of a sea of disadvantages through excellent instruction, curricula, mental health services and other supports. We value the significance of the individual, and respect their rights and needs.

Our hope is that our organization can be a part of a larger movement that is working to promote positive, systemic change in our changing world.
