Psychiatric Nurse Job

The Watson Institute is hiring a casual Psychiatric Nurse for the outpatient psychological services department at the Education Centers in Sewickley, PA .This position will work approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Employment Type: Temporary

Responsibilities:

  • Office nurse to multiple psychiatrists; check-in patients, maintain the physicians’ phone line and accurately code insurance bills for the doctor visit
  • Medication management including reordering medications, collaborating with pharmacies and securing insurance authorizations
  • Act as liaison between the psychiatrist, clinical team, and the families
  • Provides mental health and medical services to the outpatient program
  • Works closely with the psychiatrist identifying psychiatric needs of each patient in a manner which constitutes good nursing practice
  • Participates in the team approach, interacting on a therapeutic level with the children. Participates in the development of the treatment plan and in the twenty-day reviews of that plan
  • Attends meetings and staff conferences that contribute to the staff’s understanding of the dynamics of the psychosomatic concept
  • Counsels parents, when indicated, on diet, health habits, or medical management
  • Comply with local, county, state, and federal authorities regarding all health requirements
  • Assist as delegated by the Clinical Director in agency compliance with all accreditation bodies
  • Assist in periodic reports to the Clinical Director concerning utilization of the Outpatient Clinic and related issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
  • Current PA registered nurse license required
  • Experience in the field of psychiatric nursing
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, or brisk walking
  • Ability to work independently
  • Current Acts 34, 114, and 151 clearances required
