School-Based Outpatient Therapist Job

The Watson Institute is hiring a full-time School-Based Outpatient Therapist at Friendship Academy, a special education school supporting students with mental health and behavioral challenges. This position will work Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and follows the Social Worker calendar.

Employment Type: Full-time

Outpatient Therapist Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop strength-based and measurable treatment plans with feedback from family and child for assigned caseload; and based on client’s social, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Provide direct treatment to patients and families utilizing evidence-based treatment (cognitive behavioral treatment, family systems dialectical therapy, and psychoeducational therapeutic interventions)
  • Lead biweekly treatment teams and effectively present cases
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy (when clinically appropriate) using evidence-based treatment modalities (MI, CBT, DBT)
  • Meet with Classroom team on a regular basis
  • Maintain positive working relationships with families and outside providers
  • Participate in ongoing trainings and supervision
  • Complete competent clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans, evaluations) within specified time frames.
  • Conduct monthly self-audits for assigned caseload
  • Meet productivity expectations
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, or other related clinical fields required
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year working with children in a clinical setting
  • Experience working with children diagnosed with ADHD, ASD, and children with a history of trauma preferred
  • Work experience in crisis intervention is preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities (CBT, MI, DBT)
  • The essential functions of the job described require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, brisk walking, and which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and material of moderate weight (40 pounds)
  • Ability to physically restrain students for their safety and the safety of others
  • Current PA clearances (34, 114 and 151) required
  • Pre-employment medical examination, including a tuberculosis test, required
