Lead Speech Therapist Job – Education Centers

The Watson Institute is hiring a full-time Lead Speech Therapist to oversee the Education Centers in both Sewickley and Bridgeville.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and evaluate SLPs
  • Observe and give feedback to therapist supervisees
  • Support SLPs in positive collaboration with their teams
  • Ensure the integration of related services with all of the SLP’s assignments
  • Assist with the assignment of SLPs and their planning of schedules working along with Team Coordinators
  • Documents and communicates all areas of concerns with supervisees to Program Coordinator/Director
  • Develops trainings for supervisees and/or other staff on topics related to expertise
  • Coordinate SLP internships with Program Coordinator/Director
  • Supervise potential SLPs during their CFY year; as appropriate
  • Take a lead role in interviewing and hiring prospective SLPs

Treatment Responsibilities:

  • Administers evaluation in standardized manner; when necessary, adapts and documents variance in administration to obtain information about optimal performance
  • Develops appropriate IEP goals and objectives in collaboration with the team
  • Addresses educational objectives, strategies and underlying problems in treatment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a variety of treatment techniques/choices, discipline specific
  • Establishes and monitors appropriate augmentative communication devices or positioning program or sensory diet activities
  • Follows through on classroom management plans and positive behavior support
  • Develops and completes all processes within established timeframe (including strengths/needs and educationally relevant long and short term goals)
  • RRs and IEPs

General Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with team members (staff, districts, and parents)
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Participate in and organize professional development activities
  • Facilitate both preschool and school-age RR/IEP meetings as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or above
  • Current PA teaching certificate
  • Current PA Speech Therapist License and ASHA certificate of clinical competence
  • Four or more years experience as a Speech Therapist
  • Four or more years experience working with students with special needs
  • The essential functions of the job described herein require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and brisk walking, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and material of moderate weight (4o pounds)
  • Ability to physically restrain students for their safety and the safety of others
  • Current Acts 34, 114, and 151 clearances required
