ESY Special Education Teacher – Friendship Academy
Schedule: Mandatory training on June 25 & 26 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Program runs June 27 – July 26 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. All days are mandatory

Teacher Job Responsibilities:
- Implement the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each assigned student
- Work collaboratively with content area teachers/ancillary teachers to plan, develop and implement courses
- Demonstrate planning and preparation strategies and skills
- Implement strategies for motivating and managing students (i.e. Student Behavior Management System)
- Demonstrate a range of instructional approaches and alternative of assessment appropriate for the strengths and needs of diverse learners, including direct instruction, inquiry-based learning and hands-on projects
- Monitor and evaluate student progress
- Provide academic feedback to students along with regular progress reports
- Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for working in a multifaceted program
- Complete paperwork as required by the program
Job Requirements:
- Must be available for the two training days and all days in the program
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Special Education required
- The essential functions of the job described herein require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, crouching and brisk walking, and which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and material of moderate weight (40 pounds)
- Dual teaching certification preferred
- Related work experience in field is preferred
- Current Acts 34, 114 and 151 clearances required
